Water

For people in developing countries, clean water makes a whole lot of difference.

694 million people in the world live without clean water.

That’s nearly 1 in 10 people worldwide. The majorities live in isolated rural areas and spend hours every day trekking to collect water for their family. Not only does trekking to go search for water keep children out of school or take up time that parents could be using to earn money for the family, but the water often carries diseases that can make everyone fall sick.
But access to clean source of water means education, income and health – especially for women and kids.

Health

Diseases from dirty water kills more people every year.
A large percentage of those deaths are children. As they drink from all sorts of dirty water sources. Access to clean water and basic sanitation can save around 18,000 lives every week.

Time

In Africa alone, women and children spend countless hours a year trekking to search for water.
Access to clean source of water gives communities more time to grow sustainable food, earn an income, and go to school — all of which aid in fighting poverty.

Education

Clean water helps keep children in school, especially the girl child.

Less time going in search and collecting water means more time in the classroom. Clean water and clean toilets at school means teenage girls do not have to stay at home for a week out of every month.

Women Empowerment

Women and children are responsible for a large percentage of the water collected in Sub-Saharan Africa.

When a community gets clean source of water, women and girls get their lives back. They start businesses, improve their homes, and take charge of their own futures.

How do we plan to tackle the water crisis?

We will work with local experts and community leaders to find the best sustainable solution in each place where we will work, whether it’s a water system borehole, a piped system, or a system for pumping, purifying and sterilizing stream water or harvesting rainwater. And with every water point we fund, community members are trained on sanitation and hygiene training and operation to help keep water flowing for years to come.

Here are three ways you can help.

  • Show your kindness to them.
  • 100% of your money brings clean water to people in need.
  • Private donors cover our operating costs, so you can give knowing very well that your whole gift will help bring clean water.
